Execution of woman filmed by Taliban

9:19 pm on 9 July 2012

A video has been issued which appears to show the Taliban executing a woman in a village in Afghanistan about 100km from the capital, Kabul.

She was shot dead after reportedly being accused of adultery.

The three-minute video shows a woman with her head covered sitting on the ground as a man opens fire at close range, then lying motionless, the BBC reports.

About 150 men watched from a hill, some of them cheering and calling the killers "mujahideen".

Parwan governor Basir Salangi said the Taliban carried out the killing eight days ago. The Taliban dismissed the statement.
