The suspect in a shooting at a beauty spa in the United States has been found dead at the scene.

Police in the state of Wisconsin say three people were shot dead and four others wounded at the premises near a shopping mall in suburban Milwaukee.

The incident began about 11.15am on Sunday. A bomb squad was sent to the Azana spa after an explosive device was found, the BBC reports.

The estranged wife of the suspect, Radcliffe Haughton, 45, had sought a temporary restraining order against him, worked at the spa.

It is the second mass shooting in Wisconsin this year.

In August, a US Army veteran killed six people as they prepared for a service at a Sikh temple near Milwaukee.
