Hottest November night in Melbourne

Melbourne sweltered through its hottest November night in more than 100 years, with temperatures staying above 24 degrees on Thursday night for the first time since 1901.

The lowest temperature recorded in the city was 24.6 degrees Celsius.

The ABC reports Ouyen in north-west Victoria recorded a high of 45.8C, the hottest November temperature ever recorded in the state.

AAP reports that beat the state's previous November record of 45C, which dated back to 1905 in Mildura.
