The United Nations mission in East Timor is officially at an end.
Acting Special Representative Finn Reske-Nielsen recognised the progress already made, although said much work remained.
New Zealand soldiers have been part of international peace-keeping forces in East Timor since 1999, serving until the early 2000s, and returning again in 2006.
The 13th troop rotation ended last month when the 70 remaining soldiers returned to New Zealand.
