Deadly bomb blast near Libya hospital

6:19 am on 14 May 2013

A car bomb attack in the Libyan city of Benghazi has killed several people.

A defence ministry official in the eastern city said nine people died, including two children. However, other sources spoke of three deaths, the BBC reports.

The attack near a hospital follows a string of bombings in the city in recent days.

Angry crowds later gathered at the scene, blaming militants for the bombing and urging the authorities to drive them out of the city.

So far no group has claimed responsibility for the attacks in Benghazi which is regarded as the cradle of the revolution that ousted Colonel Gaddafi in 2011.
