Four dead, four missing from sinking ship

At least four people are dead after a Chinese fishing vessel reported it was sinking in stormy seas in the south of French Polynesia. Four others are reported missing.

French officials say a rescue operation was begun after the Zun Yang 26, reported trouble about 50km off Rapa.

Nine of the 14 crew dived into the sea. Only one was saved, but the person has hypothermia.

The remaining five were lifted off the stricken vessel by a helicopter and taken to Rapa.
