Up to 20 people are still feared trapped in the ruins of a partially constructed five-storey apartment building that collapsed in India on Saturday afternoon.

Fifteen bodies have already been pulled from the building site in the coastal village of Canacona in the state of Goa.

Police said the chances of finding anyone alive are getting bleak as time passes. Piles of concrete still needed to be removed and marshy land around the site made rescue operations more difficult.

Building collapses are common in India. At least 42 people died after a four-storey building collapsed in Mumbai in September. Last April, another building collapse in Mumbai killed 74 people.
