A Fijian teenager who died while on holiday in New Zealand has been farewelled in Suva on Saturday.

Deepika Rani Kumar, who was 18, died in hospital after being found in a Hamilton hotel pool last weekend.

She was part of a church group attending the Parachute Christian music festival.

An Anglican Church spokesperson, Reverend Jayson Rhodes, says church representatives from New Zealand and Australia travelled to the funeral in Suva on Saturday.

He says many spoke of the impact Ms Kumar's short life had on others and that effect was clear by the number of people who travelled to the funeral to pay tribute.
