Four children among dead in Texas shooting

A lone gunman has killed six people, including four children, during a domestic dispute in the American state of Texas.

A teenage girl in a critical condition with a head wound managed to identify the suspect and direct officers in Houston to him on Wednesday.

He surrendered following a car chase and a two-hour stand-off after his car was surrounded, the BBC reports.

Police said the incident appeared to have started over a dispute about a break-up. However, the suspect's relationship with the deceased is not yet clear.

They described the suspect as a man in his 30s with a beard who was "cool as a cucumber".

Police had been called to a house about 6pm (local time) and found three children and two adults dead, a Harris County Sheriff's Office statement said. A fourth child died in hospital.
