Reports from Syria say government troops, backed by tanks, surrounded and attacked two towns near the city of Homs on Sunday.

There have been continuing anti-government protests in Rastan and Talbisa in the past two weeks. Two people were reportedly killed.

The BBC reports Syria has banned foreign journalists, making it difficult to verify eyewitness accounts.
