Travellers burned by hot drinks

Paramedics attended to several people at Sydney airport on Monday morning after they sustained minor burns during an Air Canada flight.

New South Wales Ambulance Service says a crew was sent to assess five passengers and three flight crew on the plane which had arrived from Vancouver.

Air Canada says there was unexpected, moderate turbulence half-way through the flight when drinks were being served. Hot coffee was spilt.

The Ambulance Service says three people were treated for minor burns, but no one was taken to hospital.
