Syria's official news agency says three security personnel have been killed while trying to defuse a bomb near the capital Damascus.

It also says three civilians working with the police were killed by gunmen loyal to the opposition in the city of Hama reports the BBC.

Anti-government groups say the fiercest clashes at the moment are in the central city of Homs and the town of Rastan, where there's been fighting for several days.
