Heavy rain is continuing in flooded parts of Thailand where the government is trying to protect Bangkok.

At least 252 people have been killed since mid-July when there was a tropical storm followed by monsoon rains since then.

Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra is warning residents in Bangkok to prepare to be directly affected.

Parts of Bangkok near the swollen Chao Praya River are already flooded and Ms Shinawatra has warned there is more to come.

Ms Shinawatra has ordered the digging of seven new canals to help the water escape.
