A cyclone has killed more than 40 people on the southeastern coast of India and caused widespread damage.
Officials say the brunt of strong winds and heavy rain on Friday was borne by the State of Tamil Nadu where many people died as walls collapsed and power lines were brought down.
Fishermen have are been advised not to go out into sea and the port is on high alert, as ships are being moved out to a safe distance.
A relief operation is underway.
