Former New Zealand High Commissioner to Samoa dies

11:30 am on 14 January 2003

A New Zealand diplomat with strong links with the Pacific has died.

Macalister, or Mac, Price died last week in Adelaide after a long illness.

He was New Zealand's High Commissioner to Malaysia and Brunei, but previously had been High Commissioner in Samoa and prior to that, the consul in New Caledonia.

The New Zealand Foreign Minister Phil Goff says Mac Price was well informed and respected by both his colleagues and those he dealt with in the countries where he represented New Zealand.

His funeral is to be held in Auckland today.
