The Cook Islands police force has changed its name as part of a more client oriented approach.
It will now be known as the National Police Service.
The name change was one of the recommendations made after a police retreat in March to identify prolem areas and likely solutions.
The Service is also working towards producing a strategic plan which will be a blueprint for policing in the Cook Islands.
The Deputy Police Commissioner, Maara Tetava, says the plan aims to make Police more result-focused, transparent and accountable.
Mr Tetava says the plan is necessary in order to improve service delivery to the community.
