A seminar in Papua New Guinea has been told that last month's earthquake in East Sepik province had resulted in the uplift of Wallis and Tarawai islands.

A US scientist, Jose Borero, says on Kairiru island there were nine landslides.

The National newspaper reports that a survey of the affected area found that small tidal waves hit Kairiru and Muschu as well as the coast from Dagua to Murik.
