A UN team to Solomon Islands has completed its mission and told journalists it would like to see an improvement of the country's law and order situation.
It did not commit itself to a role in disarmament efforts but did not rule out assistance in other areas through its existing programmes.
The team said UN participation would be recommended to add neutrality to the process.
The UN team visited three provinces and also met political and traditional leaders.
