Palau is to have its first ever graduate from the US Coast Guard.
Nicolas Swords will also be the first Palauan to graduate from a US military academy under a scholarship programme that pays for Palauans to attend.
The programme is a result of the Compact of Free Association that Palau signed with the US in 1994.
Palau President, Tommy Remengesau, says the graduation is an exciting achievement for the republic.
Mr Remengesau says Palauans have long served in the US military and now a Palauan will also stand alongside the Coast Guard's graduating class of 2003.
