Fiji Police have launched a major crackdown on drugs meant for sale during the South Pacific Games in Suva.

Police have raided drug farms in Fiji's western division and in remote areas of the island of Vanua Levu.

They have uprooted more than 15-hundred plants and confiscated sacks full of drugs ready for the market.

Police are also making surprise raids on ferries arriving with vehicles from Vanua Levu.

Several people have been arrested.
