9:35 am on 2 October 2003

The Solomon Islands Police Force has stood down all Special Constables based in the capital Honiara.

Special Constables Coordinator, Inspector Nelson Nahusi, says the police are carrying out a normal practice to stand down Special Constables and he says they may be recalled if and when their services are required.

Its expected that a review of the Solomon Islands police will recommend that all special constables be stood down by the end of the year.
