More French Polynesian aid on its way to Niue

7:25 am on 20 January 2004

A French Polynesian ship is on its way to Niue to deliver twenty kits to rebuild homes lost during Cyclone Heta.

The Tahiti Nui has left Papeete with a 50-strong team of the Polynesian Intervention Group, a unit set up and run by the territorial president, Gaston Flosse.

Last week, the vice-president Edouard Fritch delivered two tonnes of emergency supplies in an operation subject to a court challenge after a citizen claimed that aid can only be given by the French state and not the French Polynesian authorities.
