Outrigger takes over French Polynesian resort

One of the Pacific's most famous hotel chains is investing in French Polynesia.

Outrigger Resorts is taking over management of Te Tiare Beach Resort from the 1st of July.

This adds to its roster of 51 hotels around 14 countries, and the fifth in the South Pacific.

The announcement follows several years of high profile closures and project failures of tourism properties in French Polynesia.

Outrigger's expansion into French Polynesia follows existing management contracts of properties in New Zealand, Australia, Guam and Fiji.

Five years ago, Outrigger pulled out of plans to also manage a major resort in the Cook Islands after government there favoured another developer.

The hotel is still unfinished.
