Fiji troops serving with the Regional Assistance Mission to Solomon Islands are to return home this weekend, as the military component of the force is scaled down.

The 24-strong contingent, led by Major Pio Tikoduadua, will arrive on Sunday after a six month tour of duty.

A spokesman, Captain Neumi Leweni, says the military commander, Commodore Frank Bainimarama, has left for Solomon Islands to take part in the farewell of the Fiji troops and ceremonies marking the first anniversary of RAMSI.
