Leaders of the Bravo and Charlie companies

of the local US Army Reserve have been put on alert for possible deployment to Kuwait in support of the Iraq Freedom Operation.

The notification came after the U.S. Army released an alert order for possible mobilization of the 100th Battalion, 442nd Infantry.

The battalion includes units in American Samoa, Hawaii, Guam and the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands.

First Lieutenant, Brian Melanephy, the spokesman for the Army Reserve in Honolulu, which oversees the local reservists says this is just an alert for the soldiers and their families for possible mobilization.

He says due to the alert and the potential of deployment, the unit will increase the level of training.
