Polynesian to fly Pago Pago - Tonga route

4:16 pm on 18 October 2004

The US Department of Transportation has approved Polynesian Airline's application to operate flights between Pago Pago and Tonga for a period of one year.

The flights will originate and terminate in Apia, using the airline's new 37 seater Dash 8 aircraft which arrived in Samoa last week.

The Department said the approval of Polynesian's application was consistent with the public interest and was based on Samoa;' membership to the Multilateral Agreement on the Liberalization of International Air Transportation.

The authority is for the transportation of passengers property and mail.

The airline wants to fly twice a week on the Apia, Pago Pago, Vavau, Apia route beginning in early November.
