The Pacific Islands Forum leaders summit this year is set down to coincide with Papua New Guinea's independence celebrations.
PNG is to host the meeting and Prime Minister, Sir Michael Somare, says it's pencilled in for the last week of August.
PNG celebrates its 30th year of independence in September this year.
The Forum this year will focus on the initial reports from a task force which is to suggest ways that the region can co-operate and integrate more.
