Forecasters have issued the fourth cyclone warning in as many weeks for the Cook Islands' main population centres in the southern group.
Cyclone Percy is north west of Palmerston Atoll and is expected to turn towards the south east, with winds of up to 230 kilometres an hour.
Cook Islands deputy police commissioner, Ma'ara Tetava, says the storm's not expected to impact on the southern Cooks before tonight at the earliest.
