Guam Superior Court throws out charges against former Governor

9:29 am on 27 July 2005

All criminal charges against former Guam Gov. Carl Gutierrez and former retirement fund director John Rios have been dismissed.

A Superior Court Judge has dismissed the remaining four of nine charges made against the two defendants after tossing out five other charges last week.

Gutierrez and Rios were accused of theft by altering the former governor's retirement status to allow him to collect more money than he was allegedly entitled to.

This is the third criminal case against Gutierrez that has been thrown out by the Superior Court.
