Call for inclusiveness in American Samoa politics

4:19 pm on 11 January 2006

There's been a call for territorial leaders to consider the needs of all of the people of American Samoa in their decision making.

The call comes from the Senate President Lolo Letalu Moliga who said that exclusion was a phenomenon that was emerging in the American Samoa Government.

He said the needs of the poverty-stricken must be considered against the escalating costs of government fees and charges for public services.

Lolo said he feared a growing class of poverty-stricken residents and did not think the territory's forefathers had envisioned the creation of an indigent social class.
