Two Samoan men charged over misuse of airport funds

The former chief executive officer of the Samoa Airport Authority, Fepuleai Rimoni Aiafi, and a former financial auditor, Tofilau Efaraimo, have entered pleas of not guilty to charges of theft of public funds.

Fepuleai faces one count of theft for questionable spending of 18,000 US dollars belonging to the Airport Authority, and two counts of false accounting.

Efaraimo was charged with one count of theft as a servant, one count of party to a theft offence and one count of false accounting.

He is accused of stealing 18,000 dollars in Airport Authority funds and aiding Fepuleai in the alleged theft of 18,000 dollars.

Their hearing is scheduled for late this year.
