Six airport security guards in American Samoa have been suspended and may face dismissal from their jobs for allegedly stealing alcohol and petrol from the airport.
Port Administration sources say that the six are suspected of stealing 19 cases of vodka from a container holding liquor for the Airport Duty Free Store.
They are also under suspicion of siphoning petrol from Hawaiian Air equipment.
The theft of liquor is believed to have occurred over a period of time late last year.
The Department of Port Administration which oversees the airport was only made aware of the incident two weeks ago by the US Transportation Security Field Office in Pago Pago.
The Department is now moving to sack the employees and is going through the personnel administrative process.
It is also forwarding information on the case to the Attorney General's Office for a criminal investigation.
