Taiwan says it's applauding moves by its diplomatic allies in the Pacific to boycott next week's China summit in Fiji.

Taiwan's six backers in the Pacific are Solomon Islands, Kiribati, Nauru, Palau, Tuvalu, and the Marshall Islands.

A spokesperson for the Taiwan ministry of foreign affairs, Lu Ching-Long says Beijing's intention of the China summit is to get more support in the region.

And Mr Lu says its supporters recognize this.

"For China, their strategy suddenly is very clear. They try to show that working with them they can give them these benefits like money benefits but that's not our strategy."

The Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao will open next week's summit.
