Moves in Fiji to ban Da Vinci Code

6:33 am on 27 May 2006

Moves are afoot in Fiji to have the film The Da Vinci Code banned.

It has already been banned in Samoa and Solomon Islands, but has been showing in Fiji since its worldwide release 10 days ago.

Radio Legend reports that some church groups are planning a protest in Lautoka later today.

One of those behind the protest, the Reverend Aisake Kunanitu of the Assemblies of God Church, says the movie contradicts the true teachings of the Bible.

The film shows Jesus Christ marrying Mary Magdalene and having a child.
