The Matson Navigation Company has announced that it is double its freight deliveries to the Marshall Islands, beginning in August.

The company has been delivering freight once a month to the Marshall Islands from Hawaii for nearly 30 years.

It says cargo from the United States will now be delivered twice a month via its expanding port hub in Guam.

The Honolulu-based company says its also expanding freight services into the Federated States of Micronesia.

Matson's vice president, Gary North says the increased frequency will help businesses by reducing their costs of maintaining large inventories to maintain stocks over the previous monthly shipping cycle.
