Inter-Samoa airfares rise to reflect rise in oil prices

Airline officials in American Samoa say the rising cost of jet fuel is making them adjust their airfares accordingly.

A few complaints have been lodged with Governor Togiola Tulafono about airfares for the inter-Samoa route being too high even though there are three carriers flying this route.

Governor Togiola said that preliminary research into this concern revealed that the high cost of fuel has led to increases in airfares.

The governor says his office will continue to look into the matter.
