American Samoa's member of the US Congress, Faleomavaega Eni Hunkin, says he is confident that a visit by members of the House International Relations Committee would help gain support for legislation in Congress that benefits the territory.

The congressman, who is a senior member of the committee, says seeing the territory firsthand is very valuable.

"It's always very helpful that these members know and can appreciate whet the needs of American Samoa are. So I say that I was very happy that we had these members come and visit."

Reports say the congress members are considering whether to support the renewal of a tax credit that will help keep the tuna companies operating in the territory.
