American Samoa increases minimum rates for selected industry groups

The minimum wage for five American Samoa industry groups, including the government, has increased by between 7- and- 9 cents an hour as of the 1st of October this year.

The government's minimum wage rise is from $2.84 to $2.91 per hour;

The Tour/Travel group goes from $3.39 to $3.48;

Hotel workers from $2.93 to $3.00;

Ship Maintenance from $3.42 to $3.51;

and Miscellaneous from $2.63 to $2.70.

The current minimum wage for the canneries, the largest private employer in the territory, currently stands at $3.26 an hour.
