The New Caledonian CSTNC union, which has been on strike for almost three weeks, is continuing its action but is facing a loss in support among its members.
The union is demanding that the government resign and hundreds of Filipino workers, employed by the Goro Nickel company, leave.
All demands have been rejected by the government and the Goro Nickel company.
Our correspondent, Tuo Chinula, says the union has protested at three strategic entry points to Noumea and in Mont Dore this morning, which slowed down traffic.
One mine in the north is still blocked.
But she says the union seems to lose support among its members.
"It seems to be the case that more and more members of the union are no longer present when the union calls marches and holds its protests. There have been reports that some of the CSTNC union members have changed over to other unions."

Police say the union has lifted its blockade of the Noumea city rubbish dump but is planning to hold a protest march in Noumea today.
