In Samoa, Faleata West MP Lealailepule Rimoni Aiafi says he is not worried about charges against him in the Supreme Court.

He told the Samoa Observer that the charges against him are politically motivated, and that his conscience is clear.

Lealailepule is facing charges of false accounting and theft as a servant, which came out of a hearing on Monday.

They arise from events during his time as General Manager of the Samoa Airport Authority.

Lealailepule claims that the charges were filed to discourage him from running in the elections.

He ran as an Independent candidate.
