Vanuatu government to face another vote of no confidence

11:31 am on 12 December 2006

The Vanuatu government, led by Ham Lini, is to face another vote of no confidence after the opposition lodged a motion with the parliamentary speaker Sam Dan Avock.

The Daily Post reports Mr Avock saying nine MPs have signed the motion.

There are 52 members in the parliament.

Observers say the chances of the opposition block toppling the government are remote given that the government has recently increase allowances for MPs.
