The American Samoan acting governor, Ipulasi Sunia, said in his State of the Territory Address today that the government's performance in the last fiscal year was positive.

The chief executive must deliver an annual address on issues such as economy, finances, health care and other developments.

Our correspondent in Pago Pago, Fili Sagapolutele, says the acting governor stressed that the government is doing well financially.

"The acting governor spoke about the fact that the government came out in the last fiscal year, it ended up in good condition. He did not elaborate any further what that means, but we have to remember that in fiscal year 2006 there was a four million supplementary budget that was submitted and approved by Fono in order for the government to finish the fiscal year without going over its budget."

Fili Sagapolutele says the governor said that there is growth and the government will provide the financial capital to assist the development.

He also said there was an improvement in reading, maths and science on all school levels.
