5:05 am on 12 April 2007

The Samoa government will host a lunch on Friday local time to welcome and honour the country's sevens rugby team win in the Hong Kong leg of the International Rugby Board series last month.

The government has also declared a public holiday on the same day to coincide with a special function following the team parade.

Government Officials, parents and church ministers, members of the National Council of Churches and representatives of the Manu Samoa Sevens Team that won the 1993 Hong Kong Sevens are invited.

Meanwhile hundreds of supporters were on hand to welcome the team back from Australia where they came runner up to Fiji in the Cup final at the inaugural Adelaide sevens last weekend.
