Solomons leader pays tribute to cabinet minister who died suddenly

Solomon Islands Prime Minister Manasseh Sogavare has paid tribute to Public Service Minister Joses Sanga who died of a heart attack in Honiara early today.

The MP for East Malaita was reported to have collapsed at his home and taken to the National Referral Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Mr Sogavare called an urgent Cabinet meeting this morning to discuss Sanga's sudden death and this afternoon delivered a condolence message broadcast on national radio.

Before becoming an MP, Sanga was a permanent secretary for public service and a permanent secretary for the cabinet.

Mr Sogavare said the government and the nation had lost an MP who totally committed himself to improving the quality of life in the Solomons.
