7:42 am on 9 May 2007

The Solomons Islands Government begins a round of consultations this week to monitor the implementation of its policies since it came into power almost a year ago.

The Cabinet Development Committee will hold special consultation sessions with Ministers and Permanent Secretaries of individual ministries, beginning today, regarding the implementation of the 2007 Budget.

The purpose of the meeting is for the Minister and Permanent Secretary of each individual ministry to brief the Cabinet Development Committee on the implementation of the 2007 Budget.

The Prime Minister, Manasseh Sogavare, says the consultations will allow the Government to know exactly what is happening in the implementation of the 2007 Budget before Parliament resume their meeting in July.

Mr Sogavare says the round of meetings will continue until next week.

He says there is a line up of four ministries that will begin the consultations today.
