Fiji invites UN team on mercenaries

Fiji's interim administration has invited a United Nations team to conduct a fact finding mission on the use of mercenaries to violate human rights.

The Fiji Times reports that the team will be in the country next week.

The UN team will meet with members of the interim administration, representatives of inter-government organisations, civil society groups, academics and individuals,

The working group was established by the United Nations Commission on Human Rights and comprises experts serving in their personal capacities.

The report on their Fiji visit will go the Commission and the UN General Assembly.
