Vice President of American Samoa Senate dies

The Vice President of the American Samoa Senate, Senator Faiivae Galeai died yesterday at the LBJ Hospital.

He was 76.

Faiivae held the Fofo District seat in the Senate intermittently for nearly two decades.

He was a member of the American Samoa Future Political Status Study Commission and a former Director of Tourism.

Governor Togiola Tulafono said American Samoa has lost one of her most innovative, inspirational and influential leaders whose political savvy was one of a kind.

Togiola also praised Faiivae's contributions to preserving the Samoan culture and language.
