American Samoa urged to piggyback on successful Samoan tourist promotion

The American Samoa chamber of Commerce is recommending that the territory piggyback on the tourism success of neighboring Samoa and target promotions to attract Australian and New Zealand visitors.

Chamber President David Robinson says the idea is to offer packages for tourists from these countries who are vacationing in Samoa to spend 2-3 days here.

He says the territory should take advantage of spinoffs from Samoa's tourism industry.

This was also the recommendation of an official from the worldwide hotel chain Starwoods who was part of the Department of Interior sponsored trade delegation that visited the territory last year.
