Polynesian airline stuggling to accommodate passengers

7:35 am on 4 July 2007

Polynesian Airlines is struggling to accommodate passenger travel between Samoa and American Samoa.

This is due to the South Pacific Express Incorporated, or SPEX's, aircraft being out of action, due to a mechanical fault.

The territory's acting manager of Polynesian, Leo Ho Ching, says they've been swamped with requests for seats, and have been adding extra flights since last week.

Polynesian has also been operating charters for SPEX, and Inter Island Air.

Inter Island's license to be able to fly to Apia expired on Saturday, and the airline hasn't received a reply from Samoa's Civil Aviation Authority for an extension.
