Niue's Premier Young Vivian says that their athletes will not link political issues with the Beijing Olympic Games or threaten to boycott it.
Niue is likely to send a small team to compete at the Games.
Mr Vivian says the Olympic Games is aimed at promoting friendship, brotherhood and competition and he is opposed to linking it with political issues.
China and Niue established full diplomatic relations two months ago.
